Another Visitor

Okay, a little background:

Our kitty visitor, we found, had been abandoned. She was caught after some neighbors complained about her roaming. They'd known the owners had been MIA for about 3 weeks. I talked to the lady who caught her and told her how nice of a cat she was. It bothered me all day cause I knew she was headed to a shelter. Luckily she was taken home by one of the ladies in the office. Yay for Kitty!

Yesterday, same office lady came walking toward our house carrying an occupied kennel. She'd received a phone call saying they left a dog too. This poor guy has been alone for 3 weeks, without food and water. He was matted and stinky.

I offered to take the dog on a temporary basis while they attempt to track down the owners. Not that I really think they should be allowed to even have him back after leaving him that way.

He was very scared when we got him, and super skinny. He was matted and stinky. I bathed him, and brushed him out. He's happy now and loves playing with the kids. He's potty trained and kennel trained so all the work is done.

We'll see how this goes!

The "D" Word

Ah, yes. The word no army wife ever wants to hear.

Dustin started to say something last week, but when I plugged my ears "LALALALALA". He quickly changed the subject.

Yesterday there really was no avoiding it. We don't have any orders yet, there for nothing is official. However "reliable sources" are saying April of next year.

I spent the majority of the day trying to convince myself that it was no big deal. Yet the news really hit me like a ton of bricks. Needless to say I didn't sleep much last night. I avoided tears altogether thankfully.

I decided to be as possitive as one could possibly be. For me knowlege helps. I spent the night researching deployments in every way. What to pack, what to get done before, what type of contact to expect.....

The problem is most of what I found is specific to Iraq. He'll most likely be going to Afghanistan. things aren't nearly as "developed" there.

This is probably as good a time as any to also mention OPSEC. Due to security I will be vary vague about details on my blog. If anyone wants more information feel free to call or email.

7 months and counting....

Weekend

Over all I had a great weekend. I guess I got enough sleep but more importantly I did get the house clean and the yards in order.

We also spent a few evenings with friends and enjoyedtheir company.

Dustin and I finnished reading the Twilight Series, my second time through. Now I am eagerly awaiting the new movie, and the 5th book. I don't think I'll ever be ready to let it be over!

Logan has a dentist appointment tomorrow and back to school orientation. I still can't believe I have a kid in Jr high.

Later in the week Dustin's parents are coming to visit. That's sure to be a fun time.

So... that's all that's on the agenda for this week.
